The Benue State government has suspended both the Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Lubem Terkula, and the Chief of Staff, Mr. John Ukeyima, indefinitely for taking part in the #EndBenueGenocide protest held in Makurdi. The move was announced by Governor Hyacinth Alia’s aide yesterday, following their active involvement in a demonstration against the killing of nearly 250 villagers in Yelewata, Guma Local Government Area.

A letter addressed to the suspended officials described their participation as a breach of trust and defiance of government directives. “This decision has been made due to your actions that have been deemed as working against the explicit directives of your Principal,” it stated. Both aides are barred from performing any official duties or representing the state during the suspension period.
