Emeritus Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Nsukka His Lordship Most Rev. Dr. Francis Emmanuel Ogbonnia Okobo is dead. The beloved cleric died this morning at the age of 89.
For decades, Bishop Okobo was known for his pastoral devotion and firm voice on matters of faith and community development. Tributes have described him as a teacher, guide, and father whose influence went beyond the pulpit. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the diocese in the coming days, while prayers continue to be offered for the repose of his soul.
In a condolence statement, Rt.Hon.Chinedu Enyidur wrote “We take comfort in the knowledge that Bishop Okobo has finally found eternal rest. As we celebrate his life and legacy, we pray that his soul rests in peace. May the memories of his selfless service, his compassion, and his love for the Lord inspire us to continue his work.”
