The Bayelsa State Government has express dismay at the vandalisation of the Ogboinbiri/Obiobi 24-inch Gas Pipeline by unidentified person’s, describing is as a criminal act.
Reports has it that, the incident happened between Angiama and Angiamagbene in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the State.
A statement made available to the public on Friday by the State Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Mrs Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai, says such act of economic sabotage will not be tolerated.
The facility which was later changed to O and O, was formerly operated by the Nigerian Agip Oil Company, then referred to as the Ogboinbiri/OB-OB gas pipeline .
Mrs. Koku-Obiyai says, that “the state government is working closely with security agencies to arrest the vandals, charging members of the public that the protection of national assets is a collective responsibility”.
“Any damage to national assets will result in revenue loss, ” she want the people to report suspicious persons to the law enforcement agencies”.Ebiuwou
The statement urges youths to desist from damaging national assets but embrace peace and work with government and security agencies to safeguard them.
