Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has relieved Hajiya Zainab Baban-Takko, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, of her duties with immediate effect.
The announcement was made in the early hours of Monday through a statement by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado.
Gidado described the development as part of “minor changes” to the State Executive Council.
“In that respect, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Hajiya Zainab-Baban Takko, has been relieved of her appointment with immediate effect,” the statement read.
“The governor thanks the Honourable Commissioner for her services to the State and wishes her success in her future endeavours,” Gidado added.
The statement, however, did not disclose further reasons for the decision.
The move comes on the heels of recent disciplinary actions in Bauchi State’s public service. Only last week, the State Civil Service Commission announced the dismissal of two senior government officials for forgery, citing violations of Public Service Rule 0327 on falsification of documents.
Similarly, on September 11, the commission dismissed an education officer for gross misconduct over allegations of sexual harassment.
