No fewer than 10 persons were killed on Wednesday, April 2, in fresh attacks on five communities in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau state.
This latest attack is coming less than a week after a similar attack in Ruwi community where 11 mourners , including pregnant women, were shot dead and three others injured at a a burial wake.
Chairman of Bokkos Cultural Development Council (BCDC), Vanguard, Farmasum Fuddang, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent on Thursday – yesterday, March 3 – said five villages were attacked.
The attacks came as Plateau State Governor, Caleb Wutfwang regretted that the liberty granted to non-state actors to acquire capabilities is responsible for the growing spate of insecurity that has almost overwhelmed state actors.
Wutfwang, who stated this on Wednesday – yesterday, April 3 – at the unveiling and flying of manufactured drones by BRIECH UAS, in Abuja, added that the country must ensure that no one operates within the country’s borders with capabilities that compete with those charged with the constitutional responsibility to protect its national sovereignty.
He said: “Indeed, we have made a mistake as a nation when we allowed non-state actors to acquire capabilities that are almost overwhelming state actors and it is time to address that disadvantage.”
According to Fuddang, the attackers defied security agencies as they moved from one village to the other maiming and killing the residents.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Jos, the BCDC chairman said: “In just one week, we have lost over 20 community members due to these marauding terrorists. On April 2 alone, they killed over 10 people. All thanks to the Nigerian military and police for their swift response to distress calls, which helped minimize casualties.
“The attacks yesterday (Wednesday) affected five villages, starting from Mongor but the attackers were repelled by security forces. The attackers then moved to Daffo and attacked the community but security swiftly responded and chased them out. After Daffo , they went to Manguna, Hurti and Tadai villages and launched attacks.
“We extend our deepest sympathies to the victims of the recent invasions in Ruwi, Mangor, Daffo, Manguna, Hurti, and Tadai. We call on emergency agencies such as NEMA, SEMA, and the Nigerian Red Cross to swiftly provide relief to the displaced and injured.”
The latest attacks have forced residents of the affected communities and their neighbors to flee for their lives.
Meanwhile the Plateau State Government has condemned the attacks in Mangor Tamiso, Daffo, Manguna (Tagai),  Hurti and Tadai communities of Bokkos Local Government Area of the State on the night of April 2nd, 2025.
Commissioner of Information and Commissioner, Hon Joyce Ramnap in a telephone interview pleaded for calm from citizens of the state .
She commended the efforts of security operatives for their response and urge them to ensure that the Perpetrators of this dastardly act are brought to book.
