Niger governor Umaru Bago on Wednesday paid Sallah visits to two former Nigeria’s military leaders – Gen. Ibrahim Babangida and Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar.
Bago, during the visits to their respective houses in Minna, explained that paying homage to them had become necessary because they are elder statesmen “who have made significant contributions to Nigeria’s growth and development”.
Bago noted that the duo had continued to remain relevant to the society through their wise counsel.
According to him, their guidance and support have continued to encourage him to strive toward good governance.
He said his administration would continue to honour them and others who had distinguished themselves in society.
The two elder statesmen, while appreciating Gov. Bago and his entourage for the visit, prayed for peace and prosperity in the country.
