Tension has again gripped Guma Local Government Area of Benue State following a deadly attack by suspected armed herders on the Udei community, which claimed the lives of four police officers. The assault, which occurred late Sunday evening, marks yet another violent episode in a region already strained by frequent farmer-herder clashes.
According to local sources and preliminary police accounts, the officers were on routine patrol when they were ambushed and gunned down. Their identities have not yet been released, as authorities continue to investigate and secure the area.
Community leaders have renewed calls for urgent federal intervention, citing the recurring attacks as a threat to both security personnel and civilians. Meanwhile, the Benue State Police Command is expected to issue an official statement as investigations continue.
