Fear and apprehension have gripped inhabitants of Ilusi village in Atakumosa East, Osun State, as a boy simply identified as Saidi allegedly cut off his father’s head in a cocoa farm.
The deceased, who was said to be the village head (Baale) and was declared missing on October 31, was traced to the farm where he was found dead on November 1st with his head already cut off.
It was alleged that the boy went to the farm with his father to harvest cocoa before the incident.
Sources in the village said the boy was seriously beaten because people knew that he went with his father to the farm to harvest cocoa.
“He denied, but later he confessed to the killing after much torture by the angry people in the village,” sources said.
Another source in the village said: “The cocoa produce and the motorcycle of his father were found at the scene of the incident. This made some people think that the boy was not the real perpetrator of the crime.”
It was gathered that the boy has been handed to the police and taken to Iperindo police station.
The police spokesperson in the state, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident on Sunday, saying, “I have been briefed. The boy is being detained by the police. Investigation is ongoing.”
