Apple has expanded its iPhone 16 family on Wednesday with the debut of the new iPhone 16e smartphone.
The new iPhone 16e, to sell at the equivalent of ₦903,292.00 ($599), is a model engineered to deliver many of the flagship features found in the premium iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models at a more accessible price, according to its makers.

The device, which replaces the previous iPhone SE naming, is set to begin pre-orders on Friday, February 21, with availability starting February 28 in 59 countries, including key markets such as the U.S., China, and India.
Notably, the iPhone 16e incorporates Apple’s first in-house C1 cellular modem – described as “the most power-efficient modem ever on an iPhone” – which supports fast and reliable 5G connectivity.

Apple says that the iPhone 16e model offers the best battery performance ever on a 6.1‑inch iPhone—lasting up to six hours longer than the iPhone 11 and up to 12 hours longer than all previous iPhone SE models. “iPhone 16e packs in the features our users love about the iPhone 16 lineup, including breakthrough battery life, fast performance powered by the latest-generation A18 chip, an innovative 2-in-1 camera system, and Apple Intelligence,” Kaiann Drance, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing says. “We’re so excited for iPhone 16e to complete the lineup as a powerful, more affordable option to bring the iPhone experience to even more people.”
