The Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, has revealed that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is working towards delivering at least 10 million votes from the South-West region in support of the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 Nigerian general elections. Bamidele made the disclosure in a statement issued on Monday by the Directorate of Media and Public Affairs in the Office of the Senate Leader. According to him, the party has begun strategic preparations aimed at strengthening voter participation across the South-West to ensure a decisive victory for the President when Nigerians return to the polls in 2027.
The Senate Leader explained that the plan would rely heavily on aggressive voter mobilisation as well as active participation in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise being conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission. Bamidele, who also serves as Chairman of the Ekiti APC 2026 Governorship Election Campaign Council, said the mobilisation strategy would involve grassroots engagement, sensitisation campaigns, and efforts to ensure eligible voters obtain their Permanent Voter Cards. He noted that the South-West has historically been a strong political base for President Tinubu and the APC, adding that the party intends to consolidate on this support ahead of the next general election.
“The objective is to ensure that the South-West continues to play a decisive role in national politics by delivering massive votes for the President in 2027,” Bamidele said. He emphasised that the APC leadership in the region would work closely with party structures across the six South-West states to encourage wider political participation and strengthen support for the administration. The Senate Leader further urged party members and supporters to take advantage of the voter registration exercise to ensure they are eligible to participate in future elections.
Bamidele expressed confidence that with effective mobilisation and unity within the party, the South-West would once again deliver overwhelming support for Tinubu and the APC in the 2027 polls. The statement also stressed the importance of sustaining the party’s grassroots network, noting that early preparations and voter engagement would be critical in achieving the target set by the party leadership.
