The Primary Election Committee of the All Progressives Congress for Osun State has declared Hon. Ibrahim Taofeek Kayode, popularly known as ITK, as the winner of the party’s House of Representatives ticket for the Osogbo Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The announcement was made late Monday following the conclusion of the party’s primary elections conducted across various federal constituencies in the state.

Chairman of the APC Primary Election Committee, Mr. Ayo Bayo, while announcing the outcome of the exercise, disclosed that Ibrahim secured a total of 7,181 votes to emerge victorious in the Osogbo Federal Constituency contest.

According to him, the exercise was conducted in line with the guidelines approved by the party leadership and reflected the wishes of party members within the constituency.

“Hon. Ibrahim polled 7,181 votes which made him winner of the ticket for Osogbo Federal Constituency,” Bayo announced.

The emergence of Ibrahim as the APC candidate is expected to further intensify political activities within the constituency as parties begin preparations for the next general elections.

Party members and supporters who gathered during the announcement reportedly celebrated the outcome, describing Ibrahim as a grassroots politician with strong support among party faithful in Osogbo and surrounding communities.

Political observers in the state believe his emergence could significantly shape the APC’s electoral calculations in the federal constituency, which remains one of the key political strongholds in Osun State.

In addition to the Osogbo Federal Constituency result, the committee also confirmed the emergence of other candidates in several constituencies through consensus arrangements approved by stakeholders of the party.

According to the committee chairman, Emmanuel Sanya Omirin emerged as the APC candidate for the Ijesa South Federal Constituency through a consensus process endorsed by party leaders and delegates.

Similarly, Abeeb Adedamola secured the party’s ticket for the Iwo Federal Constituency, while Ayodele Adalu emerged as the consensus candidate for the Ede Federal Constituency.

The adoption of consensus candidates in some constituencies, party officials explained, was part of efforts to reduce internal disputes and foster unity among party stakeholders ahead of the 2027 elections.

The APC leadership in the state has repeatedly stressed the importance of peaceful primaries and internal cohesion as the party seeks to strengthen its position in Osun politics.

The latest announcements come amid heightened political activities across the state, with aspirants and party loyalists intensifying mobilisation efforts in preparation for future electoral contests.

Political analysts note that the APC remains determined to regain stronger influence in Osun State following recent political realignments and competitive contests between major political parties in the state.

The House of Representatives primaries are considered crucial for the party’s broader electoral strategy, particularly in constituencies viewed as politically sensitive or highly competitive.

Supporters of the newly announced candidates have already begun consultations and outreach programmes aimed at consolidating party unity and expanding grassroots support across their respective constituencies.

Party leaders at the state level have also urged aggrieved aspirants and their supporters to accept the outcomes of the primaries in good faith and work collectively for the success of the APC in future elections.

The APC committee maintained that the processes leading to the emergence of candidates were transparent, peaceful and conducted in accordance with the constitution of the party and electoral guidelines.

Observers say the successful completion of the primaries in several constituencies could help reduce tensions within the party, especially in areas where consensus arrangements were reached before the exercise.

However, political watchers also note that the coming months may witness increased lobbying, negotiations and alliance-building among aspirants and party stakeholders as preparations intensify for the 2027 polls.

For Ibrahim Taofeek Kayode and the other newly confirmed candidates, the focus is expected to shift toward strengthening party structures, engaging constituents and positioning themselves ahead of what is likely to be a fiercely contested election season in Osun State.
