Excitement trailed the return of Anambra teachers from Abuja following a remarkable outing at the maiden National Teachers’ Summit, where the state recorded a historic victory on the national stage.
The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, has commended teachers in the state for their outstanding performance at the summit, describing their achievement as a testament to dedication, excellence and commitment to nation-building.
The event, which was organised by the Office of the Wife of the President in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education, brought together educators from across the country to celebrate innovation and impact in teaching.
Highlighting the moment of pride for the state, a teacher from Government Technical College, Onitsha, Chekwube Ifentike, emerged winner of the summit’s first-ever national teaching award — the maiden award of its kind in Nigeria.
Ifentike’s victory earned him a cash prize of N25 million, setting a new benchmark for recognition of teachers’ contributions to national development. Dr Soludo praised the achievement, noting that it reflects Anambra’s long-standing reputation for academic excellence and the state government’s commitment to strengthening the education sector.
She encouraged teachers to remain passionate in shaping young minds, adding that their efforts remain central to building a better future for the country. The historic win has since sparked celebration among education stakeholders in the state, with many describing it as a morale booster for teachers nationwide.
