Andy Murray will be immortalised at Wimbledon with a statue on the grounds of the All England Club, the organisers have confirmed. The bronze likeness is expected to be unveiled during the tournament’s 150th anniversary later this year. Murray, who retired in August after a commendable career including Wimbledon wins in 2013 and 2016 and a historic world number one tenure, will join Fred Perry in the club’s pantheon.
Debbie Jevans, chair of the All England Club, said the statue celebrates Murray’s contributions both on and off the court. “He rightly deserves this honour,” she stated, adding that the unveiling aligns with Wimbledon’s sesquicentennial celebrations. The statue cements Murray’s legacy as one of Britain’s all-time tennis greats and underscores Wimbledon’s ongoing tradition.
