Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has submitted six fresh commissioner nominees to the Benue State House of Assembly for legislative screening and confirmation.

The executive list was delivered on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, to the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Alfred Emberga, at the House Complex in Makurdi to reconstitute the State Executive Council.

The transmission was confirmed in Makurdi by Zape Upaa, Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker. According to Upaa, Governor Alia’s letter emphasized that the new appointments are tailored to inject dynamic capacity into the state’s governance framework and fill critical vacancies left by former cabinet members who stepped aside to contest in political primaries.

Governor Alia urged the lawmakers to grant the nominees a swift review to prevent administrative lulls in state affairs. The legislative team led by Speaker Emberga received the communication and is set to schedule screening dates in an upcoming plenary session.

The six nominees submitted by the Governor for legislative approval are Hon. Kuma Yenge, Hon. Roy Terna, Hon. Angwa Monday, Hon. Elizabeth Ogenyi, Hon. Solomon Iorpev and Hon. Nick Eworo.

The prospective commissioners will be assigned portfolios to drive the administration’s policy agendas across key ministries upon successful screening and swearing-in.
