Carlos Alcaraz delivered a masterclass performance to defeat world number one Jannik Sinner 7-6(5), 6-1 in the final of the2025 Rome Masters, securing his first title at the Foro ltalico and his seventh ATP Masters 1000 crown.
The highly anticipated clash between the current two tennis’s brightest young stars lived up to expectations. In the opening set both players held serve. Alcaraz, however, edged Sinner to win the tiebreak 7-5 in the first set, and absolutely dominated his rival in the second set. Sinner, returning to competition after a three-month suspension struggled to match Alcaraz’s intensity and precision. The Spaniard closed out the second set 6-1 ending Sinner’s 26-match winning streak and denying him the chance to become the first Italian man to win the Rome title since 1976
This victory marks Alcaraz’s 19th career title and moves him to second place in the ATP rankings, just behind Sinner . With the French Open in sight, Alcaraz’s form on clay positions him as a formidable contender for the Roland Garros crown. During the trophy ceremony, Sinner acknowledged Alcaraz’s exceptional performance and, with a smile, remarked, “I’Il get you back in Paris,” hinting at a potential rematch at the upcoming Grand Slam.
