President Bola Tinubu has urged the Nigerian Armed Forces to remain unwavering in discipline, loyalty and unity, describing the military as a powerful symbol of the nation’s collective strength and the custodians of Nigeria’s democratic stability.
The President gave the charge at the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day (AFCRD) Gala and Award Night held on Tuesday in Abuja. He was represented at the event by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris.
In his address, Tinubu commended officers and men of the Armed Forces for their sacrifices in defending the country’s sovereignty and protecting citizens from security threats. He noted that the professionalism and unity of the military remain critical to sustaining peace and democratic governance in Nigeria.
According to the President, the Armed Forces have continued to stand as a rallying point for national cohesion, especially in challenging times, and their commitment to duty has strengthened public confidence in the nation’s security architecture.
Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s support for the military, pledging continued investment in capacity building, welfare and modern equipment to enable personnel carry out their constitutional responsibilities effectively.
The AFCRD Gala and Award Night featured tributes to fallen heroes, recognition of outstanding service members and a renewed call for Nigerians to support the Armed Forces in their efforts to safeguard the nation’s unity and democracy.
