The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) and the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) are partnering to transform Nigeria’s creative and entertainment industry.
The ACCI Director-General, Mr Agabaidu Jideani, said this when Dr Ejezie Rollas, NationalPresidentofthe AGN visited him on Tuesday in Abuja.
According to Jideani, the collaboration will ensure a robust framework for promoting excellence, safeguarding practitioners’ interests, and fostering sustainable growth.
He expressed the commitment of ACCI to supporting and advancing the creative and entertainment industry initiatives to create a well-structured body that would contribute to national economic growth, pointing out that both organisations are partnering to ensure policy clarity by developing and advocating for clear, industry-specific policies for fair treatment and protection of practitioners’ rights.
The director-general added that this would ensure implementation of fair compensation and insurance policies to safeguard practitioners’ welfare and provide financial security.
According to Jideani, this would also promote capacity building by designing and delivering training programmes to enhance industry professionals’ skills and competitiveness.
”We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Agreement to guide this relationship and to enable us to host an annual business, entertainment, and creative industry summit.
“This will facilitate networking, knowledge sharing, and stakeholder collaboration, and also bring together all stakeholders, including regulatory and government institutions, the business community, and industry practitioners,to a roundtable.
“The ACCI is committed to supporting the growth of Nigeria’s creative industry.
“This partnership with AGN marks a significant step towards achieving our goals and will include engagement with marketers, directors, producers, and relevant public sector institutions ” he said.
Earlier, Rollas, president of the AGN, who restated the need to maximise the entertainment industry’s full potential and recognise the vital role of collaboration with the business sector towards maximization of such potential, expressed the Guild’s enthusiasm about the ACCI partnership, commending the chamber’s shared vision.
“This collaboration will revolutionise the industry, providing practitioners with the protection, training, and opportunities they deserve,” he said.
