The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, October 12, 2026, struck out the eight-count forgery charge brought against Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self-styled Director-General of the alleged non-existent Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).

The criminal suit, instituted by the Federal Government through the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and the Nigeria Police Force, accused Adeyemi of illegally parading himself as the head of an unapproved presidential agency, forging official executive documents, and attempting to misrepresent federal authority to prospective foreign investors.

The court threw out all eight counts following a motion filed by the defense team citing procedural flaws, lack of diligent prosecution, and failure by the prosecution to present prima facie evidence establishing the criminal elements of forgery against the defendant.

Speaking to journalists outside the courtroom immediately following the ruling, lead defense counsel Barrister Chidi Nnamdi praised the decision, calling it a victory for due process.

”Justice has prevailed today,” Nnamdi stated. “My client was subjected to unfair public trial over an entity whose advisory framework was entirely misunderstood by the prosecuting authorities. The court has rightly recognized that administrative miscommunications do not equate to criminal forgery.”

In response, the prosecution spokesperson for the Federal Ministry of Justice, Dr. Umar Isa, noted that the government has taken note of the ruling and will review the court’s detailed certified true copy (CTC) before deciding on its next course of action.

”The Federal Government remains committed to safeguarding public institutions and preventing the unauthorized representation of executive bodies,” Isa remarked outside the courtroom. “We will analyze the grounds of today’s striking out order to determine whether to file an appeal or re-file amended charges.”

With the striking out of the charges, Adeyemi was discharged of all eight counts, bringing a temporary close to the high-profile legal battle over the legitimacy of the PFIPC.
