Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has praised the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, for initiating the joint Ogun-Lagos security operation, Operation Kosaye, describing it as a bold, intelligence-driven strategy that has dealt a heavy blow to kidnappers and other violent criminals operating along the two states’ border communities.
The governor said the coordinated security initiative has significantly strengthened policing across Ogun and Lagos States through sustained operations that have seen security operatives comb forests and criminal hideouts, neutralise bandits, arrest numerous suspects and rescue kidnapped victims.
Abiodun noted that the achievements recorded under Operation Kosaye have restored public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force and reaffirmed the determination of security agencies to safeguard lives and property.
According to him, the relentless offensive against criminal gangs has made Ogun and Lagos increasingly hostile terrain for kidnappers, bandits and other criminal elements that had sought to exploit the shared border corridor as safe havens.
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to providing the logistics, operational support and technology required to strengthen policing and enhance the effectiveness of security operations across Ogun State.
He said sustained investment in security infrastructure, surveillance technology and operational mobility has continued to complement the efforts of the police and other security agencies in preserving peace, law and order.
Abiodun also commended the Commissioners of Police in Ogun and Lagos States, Bode Ojajuni and Tijani Fatai, as well as officers and men participating in Operation Kosaye, for their professionalism, courage and unwavering dedication to duty.
He said their commitment had been instrumental to the operation’s early successes, stressing that the initiative has demonstrated the importance of collaboration, intelligence sharing and coordinated inter-state action in confronting emerging security threats.
The governor maintained that criminal networks could only be effectively dismantled when security agencies worked seamlessly across jurisdictional boundaries, urging other states of the federation to emulate the Ogun-Lagos security model by establishing similar collaborative frameworks capable of denying criminals opportunities to exploit state borders.
Abiodun reaffirmed that his administration would continue to prioritise the protection of lives and property through sustained investment in logistics, technology and other operational resources to support security agencies in delivering a safer environment for residents.
