The Abia State Government heartily felicitates with a distinguished son of the soil, an accomplished soldier, a patriot of uncommon courage, and a pillar of the State’s security architecture — Lt. Gen. Azubike Ihejirika (Rtd.), CFR, as he marks his birthday today.
Lt. General Ihejirika is not merely a retired military officer; he is a symbol of discipline, resilience, and unwavering commitment to national and state security. His illustrious career in the Nigerian Army, where he rose to the enviable rank of Chief of Army Staff, stands as a testament to his strategic depth, professionalism, and enduring love for the country.
For Abia State, his relevance did not end with retirement from active military service. Rather, it marked the beginning of a renewed chapter of service closer to home.
Under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Alex Otti, OFR, Governor of Abia State, Lt. General Ihejirika has continued to deploy his vast experience in strengthening the security framework of the State. As head of one of the State’s critical security committees, he has brought structure, intelligence-driven coordination, and strategic foresight to the collective fight against criminality.
His guidance has been instrumental in shaping proactive security measures, enhancing collaboration among security agencies, and supporting the operational gains recorded across Abia in recent times. Through his calm but firm leadership, security management in the State has evolved into a more coordinated, preventive, and result-oriented system.
Long before the present administration, Lt. General Ihejirika consistently offered his expertise on matters concerning the safety and stability of Abia State. He has remained a dependable voice on security reforms, community vigilance, and inter-agency synergy. His counsel has proven invaluable both within formal structures and as a respected elder statesman whose experience commands attention and respect.
As Abia continues to witness remarkable improvements in its security landscape complementing Governor Alex Otti’s broader transformation agenda, the Government acknowledges the silent but powerful contributions of seasoned patriots like Lt. General Ihejirika. Security remains the bedrock of development, and it takes men of courage, clarity, and conviction to fortify that foundation.
