Nollywood actress and award-winning filmmaker Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi has officially threatened legal action against individuals and online platforms allegedly publishing, circulating, and amplifying false, misleading, and defamatory statements about her.

The move was made public in a formal legal notice issued by her counsel, Whitestone Solicitors and Consultancy, during a media briefing in Lagos.

The firm warned that the continued dissemination of unverified narratives regarding the actress’s character, brand, and personal life will no longer be tolerated and will trigger immediate court proceedings under applicable civil and criminal laws.

Lead counsel for the firm, who spoke on behalf of the actress during the release of the cease-and-desist notice, emphasized that the digital space is not exempt from the laws governing defamation and cyber-harassment.

The legal team noted that digital evidence, including original posts, reposts, video commentary, and defamatory blog entries, is currently being cataloged by cyber-forensic analysts to build a comprehensive case against offenders.

According to the legal notice, social media users, bloggers, content creators, and digital influencers must immediately cease creating, sharing, or endorsing false content concerning Abraham Ajeyemi.

The firm stressed that any individual or entity that continues to circulate or amplify harmful reports following this warning will face full legal prosecution, including claims for substantial monetary damages and public retractions.

Addressing members of the press and the public, the solicitors urged media outlets and digital commentators to exercise restraint and practice responsible journalism by verifying facts with authorised representatives before publishing content.

The actress’s legal team reiterated that while public figures are subject to public commentary, deliberate malicious attacks and fabricated stories cross legal boundaries and will be met with decisive judicial action.
