Operatives of the Jigawa State Hisbah Board have undergone a comprehensive training workshop on emergency first aid and life-saving techniques, designed to equip them with the skills required to respond effectively to medical emergencies during routine field operations.

The training session, organized by the Gumel Zonal Hisbah Command, took place on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at the Zonal Command Headquarters in Gumel, Jigawa State. The exercise reflects a broader push by the agency to enhance the operational readiness of its field officers, enabling them to handle public safety incidents alongside their primary duties of Shari’a enforcement and community mediation.

During the practical workshop, officers were trained in essential emergency care procedures, including controlling severe bleeding, performing basic resuscitation, managing shock, and stabilizing injured individuals prior to the arrival of professional medical personnel. The program aims to transform field officers into proactive first responders during road traffic accidents, public gathering incidents, and health crises across the state.

Participants expressed strong appreciation for the practical nature of the exercise. Sani Umar, a Hisbah officer who took part in the workshop, noted that the training provided critical skills that had previously been lacking in field operations.

He explained that officers previously relied solely on transporting injured persons to health facilities without initial intervention, but now possess the knowledge to stabilize victims on the spot, particularly by controlling hemorrhages.

Another operative, Aminu Bello, emphasized the timely nature of the initiative given the frequent presence of Hisbah officers in public spaces. He commended the Gumel Zonal Command for initiating the session and urged the state leadership to replicate the program across all local government areas to ensure uniform emergency response capability throughout Jigawa State.

The workshop concluded with a closing prayer offered by the participating officers, who commended the leadership of the State Hisbah Board under Commander General Dr. Faiz Bashir Haruna for supporting continuous capacity building within the agency.
