The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, SAN, has congratulated Prof. Emeritus Is-haq Olanrewaju-Oloyede on his turbaning as Kuliyan Sokoto by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III.
Egbewole also congratulated the Sultan on his 20th anniversary on the revered Caliphate throne and thanked him for finding Olanrewaju-Oloyede worthy of appointment into such a highly valued traditional office.
Olanrewaju-Oloyede administered the University of Ilorin between 2007 and 2012 and he is the immediate past Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB),
The congratulatory message is contained in a statement issued by the university’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, on Sunday in Ilorin.
According to the statement, the conferment of the prestigious title on Oloyede, is a well-deserved honour to a rare breed public servant, a detribalised Nigerian bridge builder and an incorruptible statesman.
Egbewole rejoiced with Oloyede, who is also the Secretary-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA).
He said the new chieftaincy title was in recognition of his well-known contributions to the nation’s educational development, service excellence, community service and humanitarian credentials.
The V-C further described the erudite Professor of Islamic Jurisprudence as a veritable symbol of renewed hope for national rebirth.
While wishing Olanrewaju-Oloyede a long and fruitful reign in his new traditional assignment, Egbewole said the conferment of the title on him was indicative of the fact that Nigeria “is not” done with the multi-tasking former JAMB boss yet.
Also congratulating the Sultan on his 20th coronation anniversary, Egbewole rejoiced with the prominent royal father whose reign so far had symbolised societal peace, religious harmony and national development.
He wished the Sarkin Musulmi and President-General of the NSCIA long life in continuous sound health and a more fulfilling reign on the stool of the Caliphate.
