President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated six executive directors for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and formally transmitted their names to the Nigerian Senate for confirmation.

The presidential request was conveyed in an official letter sent directly from the State House in Abuja on Friday. Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, announced the nominations in a statement issued from the nation’s capital, emphasizing that the appointments reflect the administration’s commitment to institutional stability and regulatory efficiency within Nigeria’s energy sector.

The nominations comprise a strategic mix of continuity and fresh appointments, with three serving officers put forward for reappointment and three new candidates introduced.

Upon confirmation by the Senate, each executive director will serve a five-year term designed to bolster regulatory oversight and drive key initiatives across the midstream and downstream value chains.

Among those recommended for reappointment, Mr. Abiodun Adeniji has been renominated to continue his tenure as Executive Director of Finance and Accounts, while Mr. Ogbugo Kalu Ukoha retains his nomination as Executive Director overseeing Distribution Systems, Storage, and Retailing Infrastructure.

Dr. Mustapha Lamorde completes the trio of returning officers, nominated to maintain his leadership as Executive Director of Health, Safety, Environment, and Community.

The newly nominated executive directors bring fresh technical and administrative capacity to the board. Mr. Mobolaji Tajudeen Musa has been nominated as Executive Director of Hydrocarbon Processing Plants, Installations, and Transportation Infrastructure, while Ms. Ogechukwu Modie has been put forward to lead as Executive Director of Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning. Mr. Said Abutalib rounds out the new nominations as Executive Director of Corporate Services and Administration.

In tandem with the executive directorate nominations, President Tinubu approved the appointment of Mrs. Jumoke Gafar as Secretary to the Board and Legal Adviser, subject to statutory procedures established under Section 46 of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).

These board-level positions complement the leadership of Engr. Rabiu Abdullahi Umar, who serves as the Chief Executive of the NMDPRA.
