The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC-PCC) has raised an alarm over an alleged plot by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to disrupt and discredit the party’s presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna State scheduled for today, Saturday, October 24, 2026.
According to an official statement issued on Saturday, October 24, 2026, and signed by APC-PCC spokesperson Dele Alake, the council alleged that opposition elements have deployed artificial intelligence (AI) technology to generate deepfake audio-visual media, doctored video clips, and counterfeit documents. The council claimed these materials are designed to manipulate public perception and simulate widespread grassroots opposition to the ruling party’s campaign launch at the venue.
The statement specifically cited an alleged campaign of misinformation aimed at misrepresenting Kaduna State’s budgetary figures. Rejecting claims that the state had mismanaged over N2.3 trillion, Dele Alake clarified that Kaduna State’s official annual budgets stood at N458.271 billion in 2024, N790.439 billion in 2025, and N985.9 billion in 2026.
He emphasized that the cumulative budget for the three-year period totals less than N2.3 trillion, demonstrating the factual impossibility of the opposition’s allegations. ”It is a fact that Atiku Abubakar and the ADC, his special-purpose vehicle, are incapable of winning any election,” Alake stated, urging members of the public and security forces to remain vigilant against deceptive digital content circulated on social media platforms during the rally.
The APC-PCC appealed to law enforcement agencies to investigate the originators of the alleged counterfeit documents and AI-driven deepfakes, cautioning media entities and citizens to verify all political reports before sharing them. As party leaders, governors, and thousands of supporters assemble in Kaduna today for the official campaign launch, the council reaffirmed its commitment to a peaceful, issue-based campaign ahead of the upcoming general elections.
