The newly appointed Chairman of the Military Pensions Board (MPB), Major General Julius Ehioze Osifo, has pledged to ensure prompt and seamless payment of pensions, gratuities, death benefits, and other entitlements to retired military personnel and families of deceased servicemen.

Speaking on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, during the official handover ceremony at the Military Pensions Board Headquarters in Abuja, General Osifo underscored that addressing the welfare of retirees and Next-of-Kin remains a critical priority for sustaining operational morale across the armed forces.

He noted that unnecessary delays in delivering death benefits to the families of fallen service members directly diminish troop morale and undermine military readiness.

To address longstanding operational bottlenecks, the incoming chairman vowed to streamline administrative procedures, leverage digital processing systems, and enhance overall operational efficiency to guarantee timely disbursements.

Major General Osifo formally assumed leadership of the board following his redeployment to the post, succeeding the outgoing leadership as part of routine military reassignments.

Highlighting the overarching mission of the agency, General Osifo emphasized that the mandate of the board supersedes any individual interests, stressing that the ultimate objective remains the timely, transparent, and compassionate delivery of all legitimate entitlements to military veterans and the families of those who paid the supreme sacrifice.

During his valedictory address, outgoing leadership commended the officers, soldiers, and civilian staff of the board for their unwavering dedication. The outgoing administration urged personnel to extend maximum cooperation to the new chairman as he works to build upon ongoing structural and administrative reforms.

In response, General Osifo reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining strict financial accountability, strengthening operational integrity, and sustaining open lines of communication with military veteran associations and stakeholders across the nation.
