The management of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE), located in Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has announced the immediate expulsion of final-year student Nora Onyewuenyi over accusations of publishing misleading and defamatory information regarding her undergraduate research project across public social media platforms.

The decision was communicated in an official statement released at 10:00 AM on Monday from the university’s administrative complex at the main Rumuolumeni campus. According to the institution’s official spokesperson and Director of Information and Public Relations, Dr. Ngozi Nwachukwu, the decision was finalized following an emergency meeting of the Senate Disciplinary Committee held on Friday at the Senate Building Council Chamber.

”The Senate panel thoroughly investigated the social media posts made by Miss Nora Onyewuenyi, a 400-level student of the university,” Dr. Nwachukwu stated during a press briefing. “Her assertions regarding her final-year research project and the conduct of her faculty advisors were found to be unsubstantiated, misleading, and intended to cause public disrepute to the academic integrity of this institution.”

According to official university reports, Onyewuenyi allegedly posted videos and text across platforms including TikTok and Facebook, alleging unfair treatment and deliberate frustration of her academic progress by members of her department during the final-year project supervision process.

The disciplinary committee noted that her actions violated Section 4, Sub-section 3 of the IAUE Student Code of Conduct, which prohibits students from bringing the image of the university into disrepute via digital or traditional media.

Highlights of the disciplinary process and university directives include Onyewuenyi’s student status, academic privileges, and campus access rights have been revoked effective immediately.

The university security department, headed by Chief Security Officer (CSO) Commander James Ereba (Rtd.), has been instructed to escort the former student off campus grounds and ensure all university assets in her possession are returned by 4:00 PM.

Management warned the general public and other academic institutions that Onyewuenyi no longer represents or holds any affiliation with Ignatius Ajuru University of Education.

As of Monday afternoon, student union representatives and legal advocates for Onyewuenyi have not issued formal responses, though sources close to the family indicate plans to appeal the Senate’s decision to the Board of Regents.
