A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Hon. Princewill Dike, has challenged the vice-presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, to directly answer long-standing corruption allegations rather than portraying himself as an incorruptible leader.

Addressing journalists and supporters during a political briefing at the APC Secretariat in Port Harcourt on Wednesday morning, Dike criticised the former Minister of Transportation for claiming high moral standing on anti-corruption while avoiding accountability regarding his tenure as governor of Rivers State.

Speaking at the briefing, Dike questioned the source of Amaechi’s financial standing, pointing out that the former governor has spent his career entirely within public service, as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Governor, and Minister, without private-sector experience.

”It is ironic for anyone who spent over two decades in public office to present an image of saintliness without clearing the air on official inquiries into his administration,” Dike stated. “Rather than projecting himself as an untouchable champion of integrity, Rt. Hon. Amaechi should address the specific administrative panel reports and weighty allegations left behind in Rivers State.”

Dike asserted that the public deserves full transparency from any candidate aspiring to national leadership under the opposition coalition banner.

The APC leader also emphasized that the political dynamics in Rivers State have shifted significantly under current political alignments. He maintained that the APC remains well-positioned to maintain its electoral leverage ahead of the 2027 general elections, dismissing the political influence of the ADC in the state as unsustainable.

As of Wednesday afternoon, spokespersons for Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi and the ADC presidential campaign organization have not issued a formal counter-statement regarding the APC chieftain’s comments.
