The leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the Anambra State Government have issued a stern warning to party members against supporting the political ambitions of former governor Peter Obi, accusing him of actively working to undermine and destroy the party that launched his political career.

The warning was contained in an official statement titled “A Betrayal Alert for Ndi APGA,” released at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 5, 2026, at the party’s state headquarters in Awka, Anambra State.

Addressing journalists and party faithful during the press briefing, APGA National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, declared that any alignment with Peter Obi or his political movement is direct anti-party activity detrimental to APGA’s survival ahead of the 2027 general elections.

”Since 2014, Peter Obi has pursued one consistent objective: to dismantle the political structure that gave him a platform and made him governor for eight years,” Opara stated. “He abandoned his own house and has continuously sponsored opposition candidates against APGA in every electoral cycle. A vote for Peter Obi is a direct vote against APGA.”

Opara emphasized that no power-sharing or coalition agreement exists between APGA and Obi’s political platform, urging loyalists across Anambra State and the wider South-East to reject overtures from opposition operatives.

Echoing the party’s stance through a concurrent statement issued via state communications channels in Awka, the Anambra State Government reiterated that the former governor’s political maneuvers represent a clear threat to the state’s ruling party.

”Ndi APGA must defend their home,” the government’s statement read. “Do not be deceived by those who abandoned the party after benefiting from its foundation. Anambra remains APGA.”

The party leadership urged all executive members across the 326 wards of Anambra State to maintain strict party discipline and mobilize grassroots support exclusively for APGA candidates.
