The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Abia State in the 2027 general election, Chief Eric C. Opah, officially presented his running mate, Dr. Godswill Egbe, to party leaders, stakeholders, and faithful in Umuahia, declaring that the party is entering the contest with full momentum to win.
The presentation ceremony took place on Monday, October 5, at the APC State Secretariat along Azikiwe Road, Umuahia, where party leaders from all 17 Local Government Areas gathered to receive the candidate and his deputy ahead of the upcoming election cycle.
Unveiling Dr. Egbe, Opah described his running mate as a patriot and seasoned professional whose track record aligns with the party’s vision for economic recovery, infrastructure restoration, and inclusive governance across Abia State.
”We are not running to make up the numbers; the APC is in this race to win and to liberate the people of Abia,” Opah stated. “Dr. Godswill Egbe brings integrity, administrative depth, and a shared dedication to addressing the socio-economic challenges facing our state. Together, our administration will prioritize job creation, industrialization, and the welfare of workers, pensioners, and business owners.”
Receiving the team, the Abia State APC Chairman, Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu, commended Chief Opah for choosing a competent and widely respected running mate, reassuring the candidate of the party’s full backing.
Speaking on behalf of the campaign organisation, the Director of Media and Publicity for the Eric Opah Campaign Organization, Chief Charles Ogbonna, affirmed that consultations across the three senatorial zones were being intensified. Ogbonna noted that the official presentation marks the beginning of a grassroots movement to unite the party and mobilize voters across the state ahead of 2027.
Accepting his nomination, Dr. Egbe expressed gratitude to Opah and the party leadership for the confidence reposed in him, assuring APC members that he would work tirelessly to ensure a victorious campaign and bring meaningful development to the people of Abia State.
