The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, host a National Stakeholders’ Meeting and World Press Conference in Abuja to officially mark the 100-day countdown to the 2027 General Elections.

The high-level session is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (BAT-ICC) in the Federal Capital Territory.

The event will be led by the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan (SAN), who is slated to deliver a major address outlining the commission’s operational, technical, and security preparedness for the upcoming polls. Details of the gathering were made public in a press statement signed by Adedayo Oketola, the Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser to the INEC Chairman.

The forum will bring together key actors across Nigeria’s political and civic spectrum. Delegates expected to attend include leadership of registered political parties, the diplomatic corps, development partners, civil society organizations, election observer groups, disability rights advocates, youth organizations, and media executives.

Representatives from security agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) will also be in attendance to review joint security frameworks.

Tuesday’s engagement enters a crucial phase of the election calendar, with the commission expected to brief the public on key operational updates, including:

Logistics and Timelines: Deployment strategies for sensitive and non-sensitive election materials across the country.

Voter Audit and Registration: Progress on the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and final clean-up of the voter database using the Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS).

Electoral Technology: Technical readiness of election management systems and voter verification hardware.

Personnel Deployment: Operational plans for the training and deployment of over 1.4 million ad-hoc personnel across 176,000 polling units nationwide.

According to the commission, the engagement aims to foster institutional transparency and ensure open lines of communication ahead of the polls.

”The national stakeholders’ meeting is aimed at promoting transparency, public communication, and collaboration among key actors in the electoral process,” Oketola noted in the statement.

INEC confirmed that attendance at the physical venue remains strictly by invitation. Invited guests and accredited journalists are required to display their accreditation badges or formal invitation cards at security checkpoints prior to entry.

To ensure nationwide reach, the proceedings will be broadcast live on major television networks and streamed via INEC’s official digital channels starting at 10:00 AM.
