The CityBoy Movement, a youth-focused group campaigning for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, says it is targeting 250,000 new members in Osun within the next 30 days. The State Coordinator of the movement, Kayode Sowade, stated this on Sunday in Osogbo during the inauguration of the movement’s executive members.

“Our target over the next 30 days is to register 250,000 Osun youths as members of the CityBoy Movement.  “It is an ambitious target, and we must approach it with seriousness. Every coordinator must understand the assignment ahead. “Every local government structure must be active. We must be organised in how we reach people, document registrations and report our progress.

“We cannot achieve this target by waiting for people to find us. We must go out and meet them where they are,” he said. Sowade said the movement would work assiduously for Tinubu’s re-election to enable him to continue what he had started. Speaking on why the President deserved re-election, he said Tinubu’s administration had removed fuel subsidy and used the resulting savings to fund major road projects across the country.

Sowade said the administration had also floated the naira and cleared more than $7 billion in foreign exchange backlogs to stabilise the economy and restore investors’ confidence.

“Today, we have the highest FX reserves in the last 18 years. “He fought for and secured local government autonomy through the Supreme Court, so that money now goes directly to our local government areas in Osun.

“He increased monthly allocations, so states now get almost three times what they used to get, and he has re-equipped our Armed Forces to fight insecurity with new technology. “These are some of the reasons we believe in the direction of this administration.

“We also recognise that Nigerians expect results, and that the work of government must continue to answer the everyday concerns of the people,” he said.

Also speaking, the patron of the movement in the state, Mr Femi Oyetola, said the group was firmly committed to supporting Tinubu’s re-election in 2027. “We are not only inspired; we are motivated, encouraged and fully committed to working for the success of the President,” he said.

Oyetola urged members to work together, remain organised and committed, and ensure that their support for the President translated into electoral victory.

According to him, Osun had benefited significantly from Tinubu’s leadership in the last four years, particularly in infrastructure development.

“For the first time in many years, the Federal Government has approved several major road projects connecting Osun to other parts of the country. “These include the Iwo–Ibadan Road, Ibadan–Ife Road, Gbongan–Osogbo Road and several other critical road projects.

“These projects will improve connectivity, stimulate economic activities and create opportunities for our people. “In terms of political patronage and appointments, I am also happy to announce that the state has continued to receive remarkable recognition under the President. “President Tinubu has done well for us in Osun, and it is now our responsibility to reciprocate that support with our votes,” he said.

Also speaking, the Olu of Ileogbo in Ayedire Local Government Area of Osun, Oba Abeeb Agbaje, urged members of the movement to work assiduously for the re-election of
the President.

Agbaje said that although there were other political parties in the Southwest, the All Progressives Congress (APC) remained the party with which the people identified, adding that it was the platform on which Tinubu would seek re-election.
