In a political shift ahead of the 2027 presidential elections, representatives from the Labour Party (LP) Youth Wing announced a proposal to form a strategic alignment with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and support groups backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The announcement was delivered during a press conference at 11:30 AM on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the International Conference Centre in Abuja.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Comrade Emmanuel Chidiebere, National Coordinator of the LP Youth Alignment Movement, cited a need to prioritize youth participation in governance and consolidate national development initiatives under the current administration.

”Our decision follows extensive consultations across the six geopolitical zones,” Chidiebere said. “We are moving past partisan divides to align with political structures actively driving economic inclusion and youth empowerment. Supporting President Bola Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’ vision offers our members the most viable platform ahead of 2027.”

The proposal was met with varied responses across political lines: APC National Youth Leader, Hon. Dayo Israel, addressed reporters shortly after the event, welcoming the proposal as a demonstration of the president’s cross-party appeal and inclusive governance framework.

Labour Party National Working Committee: The main national executive of the Labour Party has not yet confirmed whether the alignment carries the endorsement or authorization of the party’s core leadership.

The proposed collaboration aims to establish joint grassroots structures, regional youth forums, and policy engagement platforms spanning all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections.
