The funeral service for the late 84-year-old thespian, who passed away on September 16, 2026, commenced 10.00 am, at This Present House, located along Freedom Way, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos. Attendees adhered to the family’s request, arriving clad in shades of green to honor the legacy of the veteran actor often revered as the “Lion of Lufodo.”

Following the church service, the family led a solemn procession to a private cemetery in Lagos, where the late actor was interred during a private burial.

The service drew an array of political leaders, captains of industry, and top Nollywood figures who gathered to bid farewell to a titan of African cinema.

Among the notable dignitaries in attendance were Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Deputy Governor of Lagos State, accompanied by his wife, Chief Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, former Governor of Ogun State and Bisi Adeleye-Fayemi, former First Lady of Ekiti State.

Inside the auditorium, the casket, draped in elaborate floral arrangements, stood before the congregation as family and friends shared tributes. A key highlight of the order of service was the presentation of Olu Jacobs’ biography by his son, Olugbenga Jacobs, who reflected on his father’s immense impact both on stage and within the family home.

Musician Darey Art Alade delivered a poignant live performance of his hit song “Pray For Me” a track that originally featured Olu Jacobs and his wife, veteran actress Joke Silva.
