Wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, has urged Nigerians to adopt healthy lifestyle habits and prioritise regular medical check-ups to reduce the risk of heart-related diseases.

Soludo, who is also the founder of the Healthy Living Initiative, made the call on Tuesday in a message marking the 2026 World Heart Day, themed “Don’t Miss a Beat.” The annual observance is dedicated to raising awareness about cardiovascular diseases and promoting preventive measures for healthier living.

She stressed that maintaining a healthy heart requires consistent personal effort, urging citizens to make healthy choices as part of their daily routines. According to her, simple lifestyle changes can contribute significantly to protecting heart health.

“Your heart works for you every single day. Make the choice to work for it too,” she said, encouraging Nigerians to pay greater attention to their wellbeing rather than waiting for health problems to arise.

Soludo advised citizens to eat healthy meals, engage in regular physical activity, manage stress and get adequate rest. She also encouraged Nigerians to undergo regular medical check-ups as part of efforts to prevent and detect heart-related diseases early.
