US-based Nigerian cleric and founder of Queen Belemzy Ministries-School of Power, Apostle Queen Belemzy, has urged the Federal Government to intensify efforts to tackle insecurity and social vices capable of damaging Nigeria’s image.

Belemzy made the call on Monday in Port Harcourt while speaking with journalists during the three-day celebration of her 46th birthday. The programme, themed “Holy Ghost Encounter,” also marked her return to the city to reconnect with her roots.

The cleric said insecurity and reports of kidnapping had made some Nigerians and foreigners apprehensive about visiting the country. She disclosed that some members of her ministry from Germany, the United Kingdom, United States and United Arab Emirates had also expressed concerns about travelling to Nigeria, stressing that improved security would encourage more people to visit.

Belemzy also called for investigations into alleged extortion and begging at Nigerian airports, saying such practices could create a negative impression among visitors. She alleged that some members of her ministry were asked by an airport official to pay 20 dollars before they could proceed, and urged authorities to investigate such complaints and ensure visitors were treated properly.

The cleric said Nigeria had abundant talent, natural resources, cultural attractions and tourism potential that could attract more visitors if security concerns were addressed.

She also disclosed that her ministry had supported vulnerable people through the distribution of food, clothes and Bibles, as well as financial assistance for small businesses, and urged leaders and citizens to embrace compassion, responsibility and service in building the country.
