Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the immediate dissolution of state boards, commissions, and parastatals, alongside the termination of appointments for political appointees across the state.
The announcement was conveyed in an official statement released in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday, September 27, 2026, by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Mr. Yinka Oyebode.
According to Oyebode, the directive forms part of the administrative protocol to wind down the governor’s first term in office ahead of his second-term inauguration scheduled for October 16, 2026. The termination order directly impacts Special Assistants (SAs), Senior Special Assistants (SSAs), and Technical Assistants (TAs).
However, to ensure continuity in essential state operations, the governor outlined key exemptions; Leadership and members of constitutional commissions remain unaffected.
These include the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC), Civil Service Commission, House of Assembly Service Commission, and Judicial Service Commission. The governing councils of all state-owned higher institutions will remain intact, maintaining the governor’s previous directive.
While their underlying boards have been dissolved, the Executive Chairmen of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Local Government Service Commission, and Teaching Service Commission will remain in office.
Directors-General and Technical Advisers to the Governor are also exempt from the termination order.
Governor Oyebanji expressed his appreciation to the outgoing board members and political aides for their service and contributions toward the achievements recorded during his initial tenure.
”I appreciate all the affected appointees for their diverse contributions to the success of my administration and their service to the State,” Oyebanji said, wishing them success in their future endeavors.
All affected officials have been directed to hand over government property in their possession to the most senior career officers or Permanent Secretaries in their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) immediately.
