Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has approved the appointment of 101 political aides, comprising Special Advisers (SAs), Senior Special Assistants (SSAs), and Special Assistants (SAs), to optimise state governance and accelerate the implementation of his administration’s economic and social development agendas.
​The announcement was officially issued at 4:00 PM on Monday, September 21, 2026, from the Executive Council Chambers at the Government House, Enugu.
​Speaking on behalf of the state government, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, stated that the newly approved appointments take immediate effect.
​”These appointments reflect His Excellency’s strategic vision to inject fresh energy, technical expertise, and grass-roots representation into critical sectors of the state’s economy,” Prof. Onyia stated during the briefing. “The appointees have been selected based on their track records of performance, competence, and dedication to public service.”
The 101 political appointees will cover various portfolios, including agriculture, infrastructure development, digital transformation, security, public utilities, youth engagement, and investment strategy.
All appointees have been directed to report to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government at the Lion Building, Government House, Enugu, on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, for their documentation and orientation exercises.
​Also present at the press briefing was Dan Nwomeh, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Mainstream Media, who emphasised that the expanding administrative team aligns with Governor Mbah’s goal to transform Enugu State into a premier destination for investment and economic growth.
