Troops of the Nigerian Army have foiled an ambush by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State, recovering arms and other equipment following the encounter. The operation was carried out as part of the ongoing military efforts to disrupt terrorist activities and prevent attacks on troops and civilians in the North-East.
The troops, operating under Operation Hadin Kai, encountered the terrorists during a routine operation in the state. The soldiers responded to the attempted ambush, forcing the insurgents to withdraw from the area. The military subsequently conducted a search of the location as part of efforts to prevent the terrorists from regrouping.
During the operation, the troops recovered weapons and other items reportedly abandoned by the terrorists as they fled. The recovery further demonstrated the military’s efforts to deny Boko Haram and other insurgent groups access to weapons and equipment that could be used to carry out attacks in the region.
The operation also formed part of sustained military activities aimed at restricting the movement and operational capabilities of terrorist groups in Borno State. Troops have continued to conduct patrols, clearance operations and intelligence-led activities across areas affected by insurgency, with the aim of protecting communities and restoring security.
The military said its personnel remained committed to maintaining pressure on terrorist groups and preventing them from gaining freedom of movement in the North-East. It urged residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing useful information that could assist troops in identifying and disrupting terrorist activities.
