The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has directed all Nigerian nationals residing in the United Kingdom who completed their Contactless Passport Applications but have experienced delivery delays to submit their details through a newly launched digital resolution portal.
The directive, published on Sunday, September 6, 2026, via the agency’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, forms part of a multi-pronged strategy ordered by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, to clear passport backlogs across the diaspora.
The NIS requested affected applicants in the UK to complete an online Contactless Passport Application Resolution Form available via its official social media channels. “Are you in the United Kingdom and have completed your Contactless Passport Application but yet to receive your passport? Kindly submit your details using the form below.
The Service values your patience and understanding as we are currently working to resolve all issues,” the NIS statement read. Applicants submitting complaints are required to provide their full names, contact details, application reference numbers, and current UK location.
The form also requires applicants to verify whether they mailed a self-addressed pre-paid envelope alongside their previous passport booklet to the Nigerian High Commission, and if they have actively tracked their parcel. The NIS confirmed that all submitted entries will be collated and reviewed within three working days for swift processing and dispatch.
Complementing the online resolution exercise, a dedicated Passport Intervention Team deployed from the NIS Headquarters in Abuja will operate across four major cities in the UK from September 7 to September 26, 2026.
Service Public Relations Officer, Deputy Comptroller of Immigration (DCI) Akinsola Akinlabi, confirmed that the schedule and venues were established in consultation with the Nigerian High Commission and UK diaspora representatives will operate in phases; Phase 1; scheduled for September 7 – September 19, 2026) London, at the Layali Lounge, Trent Park, Bramley Road, London N14 4UW.
The Manchester Venue will be at the l Nigerian House, 23 Platt Lane, Manchester M14 5NE. Phase 2; Schedule to be open from September 21 – September 26, 2026, the Aberdeen Venue; Hilton Convention Centre, 13 Smithfield Road, Aberdeen AB24 4NR.
The Cardiff Venue is the Sophia Gardens, Sophia Walk, Cardiff CF11 9XR. DCI Akinlabi noted that the physical intervention units will process new passport requests, handle standard renewals, and resolve legacy application issues.
Applicants attending in-person sessions must bring a printed application form, proof of online payment, an appointment slip, their current passport booklet (for renewals), and a pre-paid self-addressed return envelope. Cash transactions are strictly prohibited at all physical centers.
