The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has renovated over eight classrooms and installed solar-powered boreholes in four communities in Potiskum Local Government Area of Yobe.
The projects were executed under the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Special Intervention/Quick Impact Project.
The inaugurated projects included renovation and furnishing of classrooms at Sabon Gari Primary School, renovation of classrooms and science laboratory at Sabon Gari Girls College and installation of solar-powered boreholes at Nahuta, Vindiski, Gabar da kasuwa and Mainakaina.
Speaking at the inauguration, the CAS, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, said the intervention was part of the NAF’s commitment to strengthening civil-military relations and addressing critical social needs in communities.
Aneke was represented by AVM Idi Sani, a former pupil of Sabon Gari Primary School.
“Beyond our primary responsibility, the Nigerian Air Force recognises the importance of civil-military relations by supporting communities through carefully selected intervention projects that directly address critical social needs.
“Recognising that access to safe and potable water remains fundamental to public health and socio-economic development, this intervention included the construction of solar-powered boreholes.
“We believe the renovated educational facilities will provide pupils and teachers with a more conducive environment for learning, while the boreholes will significantly improve access to safe drinking water and ease the burden on women and children,” the CAS said.
He called on the benefitting communities’ leaders, school authorities and other stakeholders to take ownership of the facilities and ensure their protection against vandalism, misuse and neglect.
In his remarks, Gov Mai Mala Buni commended the NAF for complementing government efforts in improving education and the socio-economic well-being of residents.
Represented by the Commissioner for Wealth Creation , Empowerment and Employment Generation, Alhaji Yarima Bularafa, Buni said the intervention aligned with the state government’s vision of modernising communities and improving educational standards.
He assured that the state and benefiting communities would support efforts to safeguard the facilities.
For pupils, teachers and residents of the benefiting communities, the intervention represents renewed hope for improved learning conditions, access to potable water and better living standards.
