A Boko Haram terrorist has voluntarily surrendered to troops of the Joint Task Force, North East, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), in Pulka, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
​The surrender took place at approximately 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, as sustained offensive pressure from military operations continues to destabilize insurgent strongholds across the region.
​The development was confirmed in an official statement released on Wednesday by Captain Mohammed Goni, the Acting Media Information Officer for Headquarters Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai.
​According to Captain Goni, preliminary assessments reveal that the surrendered insurgent previously operated along the Mandara Mountains axis, a rugged enclave near the Nigeria-Cameroon border known for harboring terrorist elements.
​Upon surrendering to the forward operating troops in Pulka, the following items were recovered from the fighter include; 1 Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) Launcher, 1 RPG Bomb and 1 Mobile Phone.
​Captain Goni stated that the suspect is currently undergoing preliminary investigation and detailed profiling in accordance with established military protocols before being handed over for further processing.
​The Theatre Command highlighted that the surrender demonstrates the ongoing impact of unrelenting military operations, which have restricted the movement and logistics of insurgent groups in the North East.
​Captain Goni reiterated the commitment of Operation Hadin Kai to sustain offensive operations, degrade remaining terrorist capabilities, and deny them any freedom of action.
He also urged remaining fighters hiding in the forests and mountain ranges to lay down their weapons, abandon terrorism, and embrace peace.
