The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially cleared and published the personal particulars of Senator Shehu Buba Umar as the governorship candidate for the upcoming 2027 Bauchi State election.

The publication was executed on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 10:00 AM, at the INEC State Headquarters along Ahmad Bello Way in Bauchi, pursuant to Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2026. The commission displayed the official candidate list, which also confirmed Umar’s deputy governorship running mate alongside the party’s candidates for the Bauchi State House of Assembly.

The confirmation follows weeks of intra-party litigation and dispute following a court challenge filed by a rival aspirant, Safiyanu Gambo, over candidate nomination processes.

Reacting to the release, Senator Shehu Buba Umar addressed supporters and press members during a media briefing on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the party’s campaign headquarters in Bauchi.

”Praise be to Allah. The issue surrounding the authenticity of my candidature, that of my deputy, and our candidates for the State House of Assembly has now been put to rest,” Umar stated. “This publication by INEC provides the needed clarity and certainty as we focus on a issue-based campaign to serve the people of Bauchi State.”

Confirming the publication, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, noted in an official statement released in Abuja that the public display of personal particulars allows political parties and voters to inspect candidate credentials ahead of the statutory deadline for final lists.

With the electoral umpire’s verification completed, the campaign organization is scheduled to launch its statewide tour next month ahead of the February 2027 polls.
