Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, recorded major operational successes across Kaduna and Katsina states following coordinated offensive raids on 27 and 28 August 2026.
The operations led to the arrest of three suspected terrorist collaborators, the interception of weapons and ammunition, and the complete destruction of identified terrorist enclaves.
​The developments were disclosed in an official statement released from the Joint Task Force Theatre Command by the Media Information Officer for Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt.-Col. Aliyu Danja, alongside updates confirmed by the Acting Spokesperson, Col. Olaniyi Osoba.
​The tactical momentum began during the early morning hours of Thursday, 27 August 2026, when troops executed intelligence-driven raids targeting logistics networks in Katsina State.
Acting on verified informant reports, personnel intercepted a delivery route used by logistical facilitators supplying arms and provisions to criminal hideouts.
​During the engagement, troops arrested three suspected terrorist collaborators who were actively aiding criminal groups operating along the Kaduna-Katsina border corridor.
A detailed search of their vehicles and hideout yielded a significant cache of military-grade weapons, including assault rifles, several rounds of live ammunition, communication devices, and logistics supplies intended for frontline bandit camps.
​Building on intelligence gathered from the arrested suspects, troops launched clearance operations early Friday morning, 28 August 2026, targeting deep-forest enclaves in vulnerable sectors of Kaduna and Katsina states.
​Upon approaching the identified camps, troops encountered strong resistance from armed bandits. Deploying superior firepower, the task force overwhelmed the insurgents, forcing them to flee into surrounding forest cover with gunshot wounds. Troops subsequently destroyed and burnt down the camps, neutralizing the hideouts as operational bases.
​Speaking on behalf of the Theatre Command, Lt.-Col. Aliyu Danja emphasized that the Joint Task Force remains resolute in dismantling criminal syndicates throughout the North-West zone.
​”Operation FANSAN YAMMA will sustain its aggressive posture, intelligence-led operations, and rapid response mechanisms to deny terrorists freedom of action across all sectors,” stated Lt.-Col. Danja.
Col. Olaniyi Osoba reiterated the military’s appeal to local communities, urging residents of Kaduna, Katsina, and neighboring states to remain vigilant and continuously provide security agencies with timely, actionable intelligence to support ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.
