The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has lifted its ban on e-hailing services operating at airports under its management following the establishment of an operational framework for the services.
FAAN said the decision followed discussions with relevant stakeholders aimed at addressing concerns surrounding the activities of e-hailing operators within airport premises. The framework is expected to provide clear guidelines for the operation of the services.
The authority said the new arrangement would help ensure orderly movement of passengers and vehicles while improving security and traffic management at the airports. E-hailing operators will be expected to comply with the agreed procedures when picking up and dropping off passengers.
The lifting of the ban is expected to provide relief for passengers who rely on ride-hailing platforms for transportation to and from airports. It will also allow operators to resume services while working within the conditions established by FAAN.
FAAN urged e-hailing companies and their drivers to comply with the operational framework and cooperate with airport authorities. It said the arrangement was aimed at balancing the convenience of passengers with the need to maintain safety, security and efficient airport operations.
