The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, paid a consultation visit on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, to the Oloje traditionalist community in Abeokuta, seeking the prayers and support of Isese practitioners and elders in Egbaland ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The consultation, held in the afternoon in the Oloje area of Abeokuta North Local Government, brought together key leaders of the traditional religion, community elders, and PDP chieftains.
Addressing the gathering, Adebutu, who was accompanied by his running mate Dr. Lateefat Sowunmi-Kolapo and PDP House of Representatives candidate Hon. Toyin Amuzu assured the traditionalists that a PDP-led administration would prioritize accountability, peaceful coexistence, and grassroots-driven development.
He reiterated his commitment to granting full financial autonomy to local governments across Ogun State to accelerate development at the grassroots level.
“I am assuring the people that if we are supported to be at the helm of affairs in the state in 2027, our government will prioritize accountability and prudent management of our collective resources,” Adebutu stated. “We shall put the people first and deliberately pursue rapid development from the grassroots. Funds meant for each local government will be released directly to the councils for effective administration.”
Adebutu, who noted that he is a devoted Christian, stressed that his personal faith would not prevent his administration from honoring and working with traditional religious institutions, acknowledging their role in maintaining societal stability.
Speaking on behalf of the Egba traditional elders, Olawale Akanbi (Ọmọlẹ́gbẹ́) noted that the Oloje community hosted Adebutu to offer blessings for his political journey, emphasizing that the ballot remains the ultimate tool for civic change.
Adding to the sentiment, Chief Gbenga Adesina (Ojediran Fajegbinro) commended the PDP flagbearer for recognizing Isese practitioners as crucial community stakeholders alongside Christian and Muslim groups.
They met with the pastors, and they met with the imams. And they also recognized the practitioners of the Isese religion. It is whoever comes to seek us out that we will support,” Adesina declared.
Also speaking at the venue, the Akinfiwatolu of Egbaland, High Chief Mustapha Abdulakeem Owolabi, urged residents to reject political manipulation and vote according to their conscience in 2027 to ensure genuine representation for Egbaland.
