Global stocks rose on Tuesday while oil prices declined as investors assessed the latest United States economic measures against Iran and their possible impact on global markets.

The market movement followed an announcement by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent that Washington would intensify economic pressure on Iran and target sectors including digital assets, technology, gold, aviation and shipping.

The development came as talks to reopen the Strait of Hormuz remained stalled, raising concerns over global energy supplies. The prolonged conflict has contributed to higher oil prices and increased fears over inflation and pressure on bond markets.

Oil prices had fallen by more than two per cent in the previous session, as investors interpreted the US measures as reducing the immediate prospect of further military escalation. Brent crude and US West Texas Intermediate both extended losses before stabilising during Tuesday trading.

Meanwhile, investors remained focused on technology stocks and upcoming earnings from chipmaker Nvidia, while also monitoring developments in US monetary policy. Market participants are expected to continue assessing the impact of the Iran tensions, energy prices and economic policies on global financial markets.
