President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in his role as Chairperson of the General Assembly of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group (AMSG), is set to chair the 3rd High-Level Roundtable on Critical Minerals Development in Africa.

Organized by the Africa Minerals Strategy Group, the summit will take place in Manhattan, New York, on September 21, 2026, between 1:30 PM and 5:30 PM, on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.

The summit is themed “From Resources to Wealth: Continental Cooperation for Mineral Value Addition”. It aims to accelerate Africa’s transition away from exporting raw mineral wealth toward in-continent processing, refining, and industrial value creation.

Other key speakers and Co-Conveners include; H.E. Dr. Oladele Henry Alake (Honourable Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Nigeria & Chairperson of the AMSG Ministerial Steering Committee), H.E. Moses Micheal Engadu (Secretary-General of the AMSG).

The gathering will bring together African Heads of State, ministerial delegations, global investors, multilateral finance organizations, including the Africa Finance Corporation and executive leadership from the mining, technology, logistics, and mineral traceability sectors.

Discussions will center on key minerals driving the global energy transition and industrial technologies, including lithium, cobalt, copper, graphite, manganese, and rare earth elements.

The event will also mark the official unveiling of the Continental Integration and Economic Assurance Declaration (CIEAD) and its financing arm, the CIEAD Finance Window, designed to mobilize capital for regional mineral processing infrastructure and technology.

”Africa’s critical minerals are no longer simply a geological opportunity; they are a strategic economic opportunity.

Export restrictions alone are not the destination, the destination is continental integration, value addition, and industrialization.” Dr. Dele Alake, Chairperson of the AMSG Ministerial Steering Committee.
