The presidential candidate of People’s Redemption Party (PRP), Mr Donald Duke, has stressed the need for exploring strategic alternatives to the current fuel subsidy framework and broader economic policies to help support sustainable national growth.
Duke, in a statement on Saturday in Abuja, said that optimised frameworks would foster more economic development and safeguard public livelihoods.
He highlighted a collective desire among various political and civic voices to transition from debates toward well-informed frameworks.
“The nation must move beyond pandering debates to adopting well-informed and strategically-designed policies that address growth and alleviate the current crushing levels of poverty,” he said.
According to him, refining how national assets and economic levers are managed can better stimulate sustainable growth and alleviate widespread financial pressures on citizens.
“Under the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), sources of the strength of our economy will be reinforced by imaginative scrutiny and enlightened growth-oriented policies,” he said.
The former Cross River governor said that Nigerians deserved an administration that would respond to good management and growth as well as development of the country’s assets.
“The quality of the livelihood of Nigerians shall remain our goal.
“The yardstick of measuring the wellbeing of our economy shall not be based on the manipulated volume of our foreign reserves, but on employment indices and income per capita,” he stated.
