An interest group, Working People United (WoPU), has congratulated Sen. Abdulaziz Yari on his appointment as the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 presidential election.

The ‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌group’s National Coordinator-General, Mr Prince Williams in a statement on Saturday in Abuja, described Yari’s appointment as a strategic decision.

The WoPU is an umbrella body of workers, professionals, entrepreneurs, artisans, civil servants, youths, women, students, market leaders and retirees.

Williams said Yari’s appointment reflected the confidence of the APC leadership in his political experience, organisational capacity and ability to mobilise stakeholders across the country.

He also said that Yari’s years of experience as a former Governor of Zamfara and a seasoned senator had prepared him for the enormous responsibility of coordinating the party’s presidential campaign.

Williams noted that the 2027 presidential election would be significant to the future direction of Nigeria, particularly as it continues to navigate economic reforms and efforts to strengthen national development.

According to him, the senator’s appointment provides APC an experienced hand capable of coordinating its structures, deepening grassroots mobilisation and effectively communicating the policies, programmes and achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to Nigerians.

“Sen. Yari is a tested political leader with considerable experience in governance, party organisation and grassroots mobilisation.

“His appointment is a clear demonstration of the confidence reposed in his capacity to lead a campaign of national significance.

“We are confident that he will bring discipline, strategic coordination and the necessary political experience to the assignment, while ensuring that the campaign effectively reaches Nigerians across all regions and sectors,” he said.

He emphasised that the interests and aspirations of Nigeria’s working people must remain central to the political conversation ahead of the 2027 election.

Williams assured that the group would continue to advocate for policies that promote economic opportunity, decent livelihoods, social inclusion and improved living standards for Nigerians.

He commended Tinubu, APC leadership and members of the party’s presidential campaign council for the confidence reposed in Yari.

Williams also congratulated other members of the campaign council, urging them to work collectively in the interest of the party and Nigerians.

While wishing wisdom, strength and success as he assumed the responsibility, he expressed confidence that his experience and leadership would contribute significantly to the effectiveness of the campaign council.

“We therefore extend our full goodwill to Sen. Yari and look forward to a campaign anchored on unity, effective mobilisation, national development and the aspirations of the Nigerian people,” he said.
